How to pay tax balances

Pay using Online Banking:

Corporate Tax:

1. Sign into your financial institution’s online banking service for businesses.
2. Under “Add a payee,” look for an option such as:

o Federal  – Corporation Tax Payments – TXINS (for Instalment payments)

o Federal – Corporation Income Tax Balance Due – TXBAL (for payment on year end balances due)

o Enter your 15-digit business number with the RC identifier as your account number

Payroll Source Deductions:

o Federal Payroll Deductions – Regular/Quarterly – EMPTX – (PD7A) (Most Common)

o Federal Payroll Deductions – Threshold 1 – EMPTX – (PD7A)

o Federal Payroll Deductions – Threshold 2 – EMPTX – (PD7A)ns – Payment on Filing – EMPOF — (PD7R) (For payment upon filing T4 slips)

o Federal Payroll Deductions – Arrears – EMPTX – (PD7D) (For payment on outstanding arrears balances on your account)

o Federal – Payroll Source Deductions – Balance Due – EMPBD – (PD4R) (For payment on a balance due after slips have been filed)

o Enter your 15-digit business number with the RP identifier as your account number

GST/HST

o Federal – GST/HST Payment Only – GST-P (GST-P) (for instalment payments)

o Federal – GST/HST Balance Due – GST-B (for payment on an outstanding balance)

o Enter your 15-digit business number with the RT identifier as your account number.

Alberta Tax

o Alberta Finance – Corporate Income Tax __ ABCIT – (AT1)
o Enter your 9- or 10-digit Corporate Access Number (found on your certificate of incorporation) as your account number.

Personal Tax:

1. Sign into your financial institution’s online banking service for individuals.
2. Under “Add a payee,” look for an option such as:

o CRA (revenue) – current-year tax return

■ Use this option to make a payment for your current tax return. You can use this
option once per return.

o CRA (revenue) – tax amount owing

■ Use this option to pay an amount owing for previous tax years.

o CRA (revenue) – tax installment

■ Use this option to make payments toward the future tax year.

3. Enter your 9-digit social insurance number (SIN) as your CRA account number.

Please note that, unfortunately, not all financial institutions support adding the CRA as a payee.

Pay using a VISA debit, debit MasterCard, or Interac Online:

Corporate & Personal Tax:

Your bank card must have:

• An Interac Online logo only, pay with the Interac option.
• Both a VISA Debit logo and an Interac logo, pay with the VISA Debit option.
• Both a Debit MasterCard logo and an Interac logo, pay with the Debit MasterCard option.

Pay online by credit card or PayPal:

You may use a third-party service provider that offers payment by credit card. The third-party service providers will send your individual or business payment and remittance details online to the CRA for
you. Third-party service providers charge a fee for their services.
